yare we are in the mood for love.
I wanted to make this week :ROMANTIC
so let's start by Toile de Jouy.
Most of the prints of the Toile de jouy are a love story , let's share them
When toile fabric was first made in France, idyllic scenes featuring the French countryside were predominant. These motifs showed people at work and at leisure. Hunting scenes, which depicted a favorite pastime of the well-to-do, were favorites.
In addition, thematic depictions related to Roman or Greek mythology were popular because they were pleasing to a well-read audience of well-educated men who had studied the Classics.
LOVE was also a main subject . All these romantic toiles are printed thanks to the wood block printing method ( I will write a post about it)
Toile de Jouy : le temple d'amour 72 euro /m
Toile de jouy le char de Neptune 72 euro / m
Toile de jouy la chasse de Diane 72 euro /m

Oh how lovely. I still remember going to Provence as a child and seeing an entire room done in toile (and I mean EVERYTHING) - it was so gorgeous and intense that the image of it is burned on my brain.

Lovely Toile's! I've always been partial to red ones, but the blues sure do sing too! Regarding my French link - isn't it funny how the Internet allows someone in California to discover a French Artist, without even leaving the country? I found Fanny by looking at someones local Myspace page - and the rest is history!
Hugs from Ulla!

Toile de Jouy is one of my first design love. It will never ever go out of style because it was never in style. It is timeless.
