The phone rings
someone explains to you that he wants to sell some antiques , he has inherited an house , and he wants to empty it .
You drive your car to the address .. you look for the right door , try to park not too far ..
You are so excited
you imagine what you are going to find
what you are going to do with it
thanks to the sound of his voice , you think his family was an old "marseillaise" family , may be he owns some wonderful paintings or some little santons or some sailor 's antiques , things from a far away country
he opens the door , he is not what you have expected , your eyes try to find something
Going to buy antiques to someone's house is like a blind date ..
You try to be honest , to be the best you can be and in the other side is a mystery ....
mysterious painting found in a mysterious place
Dear Melanie,
One day a special man is going to open the door, and YOU will walk into a brand new world. (And I'm not talking about antiques)!
The mysterious painting looks like Mary? Don't you think?

I imagine that you would have to be quite diplomatic when assessing antiques with a potential client. You have an interesting job. :)

You have to have a good professional eye to find the "pearl" the exquisite object that will make your day into a house full of thousands uninteresting things. Wish you luck for future discoveries.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been to that mysterious place a few times.
We love it though don't we?

Though I have not been to any houses...I do get that excited feeling when I am driving to a flea market!

That's a lovely painting. And I know from a couple of antique dealer friends the mixed offerings they discover at people's homes - sometimes rare and beautiful; sometimes not.
