"I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature; lace always evokes for me those incomparable designs which the branches and leaves of trees embroider across the sky, and I do not think that any invention of the human spirit could have a more graceful or precise origin."

Melanie,
These pieces are amazing! I love french lace and embroidery. I made my daughter's french hand sewn dress for her senior year. I learned a lot about lace and embroidery doing that!
I love linens, so this may just be one of my favorite posts.
Have a nice day.

So much care and time goes into the embroidery or tatting of a linen! It is a labor of love and is even so beautiful, many years later. I am getting ready to embroider some bumble bees on our pillow cases.
Just think Melanie!! Soon ~
very soon, all will be New and fresh and wonderful!
Think about Christmas!

Merci! Thanks for coming to visit and leaving a very nice comment on the refinished hutch. When I came here and saw the old lace, I went weak in the knees and swooned. This above all else is my weakness. Your blog is amazing. I will be back often.
