I love this painting, Melanie! Is it for sale in your shop, and if so, what is the price and how big is it? Do you know what year it was painted? I love how the painter sees so many colors, even blues and purples, in the red roses, and I love the bold, chunky brush strokes.
Do I prefer live flowers or a still life? Hmm... I prefer live flowers in my garden, but a still life brightens the winter and does not vex me with black spot, powdery mildew, or Japanese beetles! Also, paintings have no thorns. :-)
I love both! Without the fresh, how could we know it's best imitation? Fresh will die, and it's portrait lives on!

I always get preoccupied with fresh flowers...fretting over how long they will live and feeling guilty because their beauty was "cut" short. So still life for me! A Bientot (working on french lessons with my kids...)

Fresh flowers but in this case, I would say still life. What a beautiful painting Melanie!
