And I've thought about you ..BLOGGERS

Butterflies

This morning , as we have one of the most important choice of selection of fabrics in Provence , a customer from Saint Tropez came to look for something special to make curtains.

She had just lost her son , and she had heard that butterfly was the symbol of resurrection so she was looking for a fabric with butterflies design.

Indeedin a lot of cultures butterfly is symbolic in roman Antiquity , soul leaving the body took the form of butterfly , and for the Aztecs he is symbol of the soul and vital breathing .

Have you ever thought that fabric could be therapeutic ?

I do because

creation helps everyday

art and beauty too

little Clarisse

Little Clarisse will become grown up .

My sister Clarisse was like my daughter . We have 13 years difference of age .

Now she is almost an adult . She just turns 18 years old on the 4th of july.

And Guess What ?

She is learning an old fashion job : she will be an upholsterer like our Dad .

In september , she will start learning with my dad in our workshop ans she will go to the " compagnon's school" in Paris

She will learn the best , she will learn how to upholsterer an original XVIII th century chair only with horse hair " garniture à l'ancienne"

she will learn how to put fabric on the walls

she will learn how to hang curtains the right way .

This young little girl will do an old job ....Great ....

My dad is going to pass on his Savoir Faire.

I'm so proud of her

We will be the daughters of the upholsterer

Even is she has worker's hands , she has nimble fingers ( the french expression is nicer we say have "des doigts de fée " that is to say have fairy fingers")

  She is fragile but so strong

she is young but so mature

She is fashonniable but so old fashion

A visit to a friend

Today I came to visit  one of my colleague and friend

He shows me all his treasures and he had a lot ...

But the one I prefered was the little box with the  2 dollies . There ware so small and so delicate .

There were with a little 1876 diairy . I love the way I felt when I see these things together . I've thought about the young girl who should have owned these marvels .

She should have taken care of them like her babies

She should have loved them

She should have written each day her diairy ...

Come back from auction race

                   YES YES YES I CAME BACK WITH A TREASURE

                                 A KIND OF HUNTING TROPHY

I HAVE WON THE MOST WONDERFUL THING : A 50'S GAME BOX , IT IS BRAND NEW no kid play with it , I hope it is going to make somebody happy . Any way it makes me very happy.

Then a very romantic antique : a letter from Louis Aragon to his famous lover Elsa Triollet . He wrote it in Hotel Beauvau in Marseilles. I hadn't seen it before bidding . And I've thought it was a romantic letter as Louis Aragon was used to writing  to Elsa

                                                       BUT

Disappointment it was just an ordinary letter saying he will come back to Paris later ....

I don't care this couple was such a romantic symbol that I'm going to frame it and to keep it

Aragon wrote the most beautiful poem about love and Jean Ferrat sang it , it is better than LA VIE EN ROSE it is called " aimer à perdre la raison " the translation will be I guess : Loving until losting his reason .

This song is unbelievable

For me there are several way to find my litlle " curiosités "

One of them is to go to auction

so first I go to visit , the day before and I choose what I would like to buy

I love these non listed auctions , there are full of surprises ..it is a " bric a brac"

You have to find the little treasure ...it is so exciting

Moreover , the exciting is not to be sure to get it

I love this papier maché character called Narcisse 

It is like race . When you bid your heart beats so fast

Are you going to bring it back to home with you ??

Nostalgia

my cousin just comes back from my paternal grand mother's country :

Algeria

He was the first person of the family to go back to our left country since 1962 ....

It is so great to see the pictures of where you are from .

I guess my grand mother's memories look more like this picture : it is full of Nostalgia

Back from week end

Sorry for my silence

This week end , I was in Italy , in Genova

But I didn't like very much this town , actually I think the truth was I didn't like the person I was with ...

Thanks to God I've found something I like and something familiar :

an antique fair in Genova's street that makes this bad day looks better

Then I looked up the sky to find the strenght to endure that day and I saw these "strong men " and Beauty helps me ...

I was suposed to spend the week end  but the same day I was back to France
