When I thought about my city secret , it had something to do with handwork, art and history . Most of the places I love are like that!

It could have been my dad 's workshop , but it was too much easy and a little bit pretentious!

I love our provencal coloured facades and the light in the morning

view of the garlaban , the mountain ( colline ) of Aubagne and above all our famous Marcel Pagnol . My shop is 400 meters far away from Marcel Pagnol 's museum and we decorated his museum that is actually the house where he was born

a sample of a man from Marseilles ! I'm kidding they are not all like him, some are more elegant and sophisticated , lucky us !!!!!

Visite in a provencal pied à terre

I love to read the different post of Kren from Alkemie about pied à terre

so I wanted to share this cute little provencal pied à terre with you

here is what you see and what you enjoy , outside

a cup of coffee

Then you open "the porte de l'amour" ( door of Love)

You discover a cute little kitchen

and after making coffee and cooking , you can have a nice diner under a lovely canopy ...

In provence, you can even have a piano and some louis XV style chairs outside ! what a chic outdoor

Chiner en Provence

Today , I'm going to drive around my little Provence , to find mew treasures.

As May 1st was a day off in France , I'm taking a long week end ( un pont as we say = a bridge)

So I'm going to take my car , to take my time and to spend my time doing what I love " chiner " ( finding antiques )

By chance , one of my friend has rented a " gite " ( an house) so I will spend my night somewhere in my route of Provence where I will rest

As I don't really work I will have time to look of the world around me

By my car's windows I will enjoy the flowered fields

I hope I will find more provencal potteries for my show room collection ..I love this green ...

May be some big pieces as drawers , armoires , commodes , tables ...

During this afternoon I may stop on my way to look if a " little girl" can have a nap there

So I will be back I hope with some photos to share and may be some trasures from my route de chine in Provence

I love most of the paintings , I sell and I love to sell them to someone that will cherish it ...

Right now , in my shop I particularly love this painting

Tradition

We have a lot of traditions here in Provence , I guess it is the same in every part of the world.
For christmas , let's share them

On christmas eve , we have a lot of traditions but let is start by 3 of them:

the christmas log , the " gros souper " and the 13 desserts

The christmas log also called in our provencal language " cacho Fio "

On Christmas Eve , when the table is set , tradition requires that someone picks up a beautiful fruitwood log that the oldest guest of the house , helped by the youngest ( the caganis) puts it in the hearth of the fireplace so that it is consumed untils New Year's Day.

And in Provence we say :

Dieu nous fague la gràci de vèire l'an que vèn, et se noun sian pas mai , que noun fuguen pas mens!

That is to say May God gives us grace to see the coming year . And , if we are not more that we are not less alive.

XVIII th century Painting school of Lancret , le " gros souper ". In my show room

The gros souper

on the 24 th , waiting for midnight mass , we eat the Gros souper.

It must be composed by 7 light dishes ( made with vegetables), in recollection of the 7 sorrows of Mary.This meal is a kind of vegeterian meal , I'm sure Corey loves this meal

The table is set on 3 white tableclothes and with 3 large white candles that recall the Holy Trinity. We set an additional setting for the pauper .

The traditional meal is :

Cabbage soup

celery with anchoiade ( Bagna Caudo)

Or Truffle Salad and celery snails

Aigo boulido ( soup of boiled water, garlic , sage, olive oil and bread)

Cod au gratin with spinach

cardoons with truffle's sauce or bechamel

Cheese

Then come the 13 desserts

Well as my parents love to cook , for us as typical provencal , this meal has been a little bit boring . So we have our special meal .

The 13 desserts is the part I love the most I think

How to set up the crib

To set up the crib ( or creche) it is an art . An art that is slow, patient and passionate .

The crib will be set up , and then after almost 2 montfs go back into the cupboards : a long period of sleep before a rebirth at the following christmas

So to make a creche you need :

mass from the wood

santons : holy family and the Pantheon of the santons of Provence

the background : building, painting despiting a landscape

some accesories :brige, fountains , "oratoire"
