Bye Bye vacations

Well , I haven't written Bye Bye Summer , because here in Provence it has never been that Hot than in this end of Summer .

Nevertheless everybody is going back to work . I haven't taken any vacation so for me it is just going on .

But my family took some days off and today it is the big coming back

The day everybody hates

So the workshop opens these doors again  , until Christmas it will be full of suprises , Work , Joy and sharing

Let's go again in the world of Antiques , Upholstery and decoration

My dad will learn again to Allan , his brazilian apprentice . My dad loves to share his savoir faire and culture

They will make new sofas

They will make old fashioned upholstery again again . My dad upholsters old art deco " fauteuil club" as it is suposed to be done . They are just few to know how to upholsterer it properly

Ode to Provence

Provence is :

a corner of a quiet garden

Provencal potteries full of colors , of joy and happiness

the provencal pottery reflects our life , in particular the " santons " (little figures)

Cooking , we have so much tasty food

"l'aioli"( garlic in the bed) I will give you its funny recipe

the bouillabaisse set , Vallauris pottery from the 60's ,

it is so kitch .I love it

little Clarisse

Little Clarisse will become grown up .

My sister Clarisse was like my daughter . We have 13 years difference of age .

Now she is almost an adult . She just turns 18 years old on the 4th of july.

And Guess What ?

She is learning an old fashion job : she will be an upholsterer like our Dad .

In september , she will start learning with my dad in our workshop ans she will go to the " compagnon's school" in Paris

She will learn the best , she will learn how to upholsterer an original XVIII th century chair only with horse hair " garniture à l'ancienne"

she will learn how to put fabric on the walls

she will learn how to hang curtains the right way .

This young little girl will do an old job ....Great ....

My dad is going to pass on his Savoir Faire.

I'm so proud of her

We will be the daughters of the upholsterer

Even is she has worker's hands , she has nimble fingers ( the french expression is nicer we say have "des doigts de fée " that is to say have fairy fingers")

Look at her

  She is fragile but so strong

she is young but so mature

She is fashonniable but so old fashion

Savoir faire ....

This note is to introduce you to someone I love : MY DAD

He is the best in his art ...OF COURSE

He is an upholsterer , not only an interior decorator . He has been working since the age of 14 years old . So he can say , he has SAVOIR FAIRE

I grown up in his workshop and I love and I still love the smell of horse hair , of wood , of wool ....

Today He does a mattress , He works like in the XIX th century .

Did you think someone in France , near Marseilles was still doing "old fashioned " mattress ??

This mattress reminds me my childhood full of softness , smoothness and voluptuousness

Don't you like his worker hands ?

In his workshop , he teached me to do his work only with passion I DO

he teached me to share everything ( he loves to teach his work to youngs) I DO

he teached to be patient I DO 

he teached to be generous I try to be

He teached me a lot of others things that I will tell you one day

By the way , I've forgotten my sister, 18 years old , is learning his work , she will be a " compagnon du devoir"
